Dan Cruickshank is a regular presenter on the BBC, best known for his popular series Britain's Best Buildings, Around the World in 80 Treasures and for his appearances in The House Detectives and What the Industrial Revolution Did For Us. In May 2002, he travelled to Afghanistan for the BBC Omnibus series to discover what cultural treasures remained after years of civil war and bloodshed. The series Under Fire reported on the scale of looting of Iraqi treasures. His books include Around the World in 80 Treasures; Life in the Georgian City; The Guide to the Georgian Buildings of Britain and Ireland; Invasion: Defending Britain from Attack; and The Story of Britain's Best Buildings. He is a leading expert on architecture and historic buildings, and a frequent contributor to The Architects' Journal and The Architectural Review. He is an active member of the Georgian Group and a member of the Architectural Panel of the National Trust. |
